Desktop app

Pixsar Meet on your computer

One app for Windows, macOS and Linux. Open it, type the meeting code you were given, and you are in, with camera, microphone and screen sharing built in.

Version 1.0.0. Free for participants.

Windows

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The installer puts Pixsar Meet in your Start menu.

Download installerOr the portable zip

macOS

macOS 12 or newer. Apple Silicon Macs run it through Rosetta, which macOS offers to install on first launch.

Download for Mac

Linux

Ubuntu, Debian and most 64-bit distributions.

Download .debOr the tar.gz for any distribution

Each download is about 190 MB because the app ships its own browser engine, so meetings work the same on every machine.

Installing

Takes a minute. The app is not yet signed with a store certificate, so each system asks you once to confirm you trust it.

Windows

  1. 1Run PixsarMeet-Setup-win-x64.exe. If Windows shows a blue SmartScreen box, click More info, then Run anyway.
  2. 2Pixsar Meet installs for your user and appears in the Start menu.
  3. 3Allow camera and microphone when the app asks the first time.

macOS

  1. 1Open the zip and drag Pixsar Meet into Applications.
  2. 2First launch: right-click the app, choose Open, then Open again in the dialog.
  3. 3Allow camera and microphone in the prompts.
  4. 4To share your screen, allow Pixsar Meet under System Settings, Privacy and Security, Screen Recording, then reopen the app.

Linux

  1. 1Debian or Ubuntu: open the .deb or run sudo apt install ./pixsar-meet_1.0.0_amd64.deb.
  2. 2Any other distribution: extract the tar.gz and run install.sh; it adds a launcher to your menu.
  3. 3Start Pixsar Meet from your applications menu.

Joining a meeting

Every meeting has a short code, like abc-defg-hij, and a link. Either works.

  1. 1Open Pixsar Meet. The front door asks for a meeting code or link.
  2. 2Type the code from your teacher or host, or paste the link, and press Join.
  3. 3Enter your name on the join screen and check your camera and microphone.
  4. 4The room opens when the host arrives. Guests start muted; raise your hand to speak.

Codes and links

A code only opens that meeting's join screen. Nobody can start or control a meeting without the host's signed link.

Safety

Media is encrypted in transit. The app only ever loads meet.pixsar.io; any other link opens in your normal browser.

What you need

A 64-bit computer, a camera and microphone, and about 500 MB of free space. Screen sharing shares your main screen.

No install needed?

Any modern browser works too. Open the meet front door and type your code.
